Hoping this bit of a 'mashup' might bring you some joy today as you try it for yourself!
As the term implies - a 'mashup' combines two or more sections of musical pieces, and offers a wonderful opportunity for some fun and creativity along the way. This combination of Ben E. King's, "Stand by Me" and a section of, "Just The Way You Are," by Bruno Mars, maintains the very well known recurring bassline, ('basso ostinato,') while allowing both song melodies, (as well as the lyrics,) to interplay above. This particular combination has become popular over the years, and can be found in several online recordings.
Below is a newly arranged and transcribed outline of a piano accompaniment, including written chords for those of you wishing to play on another instrument. Written out for you and played in G Major, you can transpose to a key of your choice keeping the basic chord progression in mind: I-I-VI-IV-V-I.
More than anything, I hope this day brings you what you need and what you will find most helpful on your journey, keeping in mind that making music, independently or with others, is just one way to experience connection, expression, creativity and communication. So let's celebrate some beautiful music and thank Ben E. King,
J. Leiber, M. Stoller, and Bruno Mars, (along with P.Lawrence, A. Levine, K. Walton and K. Cain: co-composers,) for affording us the opportunity to join in and sing!
"Basso Ostinato": "ground bass, also called basso ostinato (Italian: “obstinate bass”), in music, a short, recurring melodic pattern in the bass part of a composition that serves as the principal structural element." (Encyclopedia Britannica.) https://www.britannica.com/art/ground-bass
